8 is perfect. Any more and people would get lazy. It enhances build creativity and helps with energy management. It means you have to prepare instead of just taking whatever the hell you want with you. The only thing that I would say is make one extra, separate skill slot for rez. It's a pain having to bring that and then have only 7 skills left.

If you ask other MMOs, 24 slots won't be enough.

The 8 slots is not about being enough. The 8 slot is about being a challenge, forcing you to decide, and is the cornerstone to GW strategic and tactical thinking.

Same reason for restricting Elites, restrictions of certain skills in effect on each character: one stance, one preparation, one weapon spell, etc.

If you want all your skills available to you at all times, and a health and energy bar 10x longer, and being able to spam potions, you're quite clearly playing the wrong game.

A simple solution for not bringing a rez in a Pug: Always die first so noone ever finds out.

I guess you guys are right I am content with 8 skills but I have played with many people who think the 10 might work not an infinate number.

Do you use your eight to there full potential?

Eight is the balanced set for the game only thing I could see would be using a 9th spot for a rez sig and rez sig only

8 is fine for PvP but they could make it unlimited for PvE and it wouldn't make much difference

I think a better question would be, "are all skills equally worth their place on your skill bar", to which the answer is a sorrowful "no".

Is 8 pawns really enough? Would Chess be better with 10 or 12? Or could we learn to play within the limitations? Questions, always questions.... answers, not so much....

Ive always thought 8 was a push, 9 would be perfect, 9th being reserved for your elite skill.....thats just my opinion..

It will always be like this, im sure everyone has been in the situation where they try out a new build and think "If only I could have 1 more skill it would be perfect".

But GW is balanced around 8 skills, once you start being able to take more you can start to bring a counter for everything, a cover for every weakness.

You have to focus your build on set roles, its a team game. Using the rest of your team you can each cover different roles.

Exactly. It would be power creep. If you give 9 slots, then people will want 10. Same reason why a.net doesn't increse storage that often. If they gave everybody an extra 5 storage slots, people would complain about how they filled those and need another 15.

I like it.

8 is fine, I can barely get my fingers across all the numbers to use all my skills anyways.

Another possibility would be able to have, say, 2 power trays that you can switch between during normal play. As a caveat to this, have switching the trays cancel any enchantments/hexes/summoned minions you might already have out. I'm not sure how I'd handle pets w/ this. You could add a cooldown timer for switching trays so as to prevent it form just becoming a 16 skill bar...

8 slots are fine but if you want more then we would need a lot more health and energy...

Its 8 slots as you have 8 fingers ( 4 on each hand) and GW skills are suppoesdly rings on each finger that you touch to activate as a 'hero' So unless they have skills thats rings fits on thumbs....

Considering that in pve NM most can survive with 3-5 skills out of 8?
Yes, 8 is plenty.

This has been beaten to death a few times already, and most people agree that it is enough. Closed.
